Summary...
Dahmer`s trial did not go so well for him. He was incicted on 17 charges of murder. This was later reduced to 15 because he was not charged with the Attempted murder of Edwards. With overwhelming evidence against him, he pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity. The trial lasted two weeks. The court found him sane and guilty of 15 counts of murder and sentanced him to 15 life terms, that adds up to 957 years in prison. This was the maximum penalty for Wisonsin since they abolished capital punishment in 1853. Dahmer spent his time at the Columbia Correctional Institution in Portage, Wisconsin. He ended up becoming a born again christian. He was also baptized. Dahmer was attacked twice in prison. The first time was in July 1994. A fellow inmate tried to slice Dahmer`s throat with a razor blade while Dahmer was returning to his cell. Dahmer escaped with superficial wounds. The second time was while Dahmer was doing janitor work in the gym. Dahmer and another inmate Jesse Anderson, were beaten by fellow inmate Christopher Scarver. They were beaten with a 20 inch metal bar from the work out room. Dahmer died of severe head trama while on his way to the hospital.
